Your reason, not ours

What brings you here?

Nobody paints because of the paint. People paint because something changed. Tell us which case is yours and we will show you the shortest way through.

Base of a wall with paint blistered by damp

Our work: a damp wall, before the repair.

When damp returns, painting over it only buys time. We look for where the water gets in and deal with that first.

Projects

Work done, before and after

Whole buildings and homes from the inside. For each job, what we found and what we did.

Façade restoration

White-fronted building, Lisbon

A residential building of several storeys, with dormers, stone window surrounds and iron balconies. The façade had been darkened by years of dirt and run-off, and the stonework could barely be told apart from the render.

  • Façade painted over its full height, up to the dormers
  • Stone surrounds cleaned, standing out from the wall again
  • Balconies and iron railings with an even look

Façade restoration

Blue-fronted building, Lisbon

A building with shops at street level, a blue façade with pale pilasters and stone surrounds, and long iron balconies. The blue had faded and stained to almost grey, and the design of the façade had disappeared.

  • Blue restored across the whole façade
  • Pilasters and stonework in a pale tone, marking out the design of the building again
  • Long balconies with a clean, even look

What you get

Everyone promises quality. We show you how we get there.

Paint is the part you see. What decides whether it lasts is underneath, and that is where we start.

  1. You learn the cause, not just the price

We measure moisture, map the cracks and photograph everything with a date. The quote says where the water gets in and why, in plain language.

  2. You know what you will pay before we start

A fixed price in writing. Anything extra only goes ahead with your approval, also in writing.

  3. The risk sits with us

The final instalment is paid only after you have seen and approved the finished job. As it should be.

  4. The right material for each wall

Mineral paints on old walls that need to breathe, acrylic systems where they make sense. We tell you which one we chose and why.

  5. You do not need to understand paint

We explain what we will do in two sentences and take care of protection, notices and cleaning. Your part is choosing the colour.

How it works

Four steps, none of them complicated

  1. Tell us what is going on

A message with two or three photos is enough to get started.

  2. Site visit

We measure, photograph and listen. You leave knowing what we found.

  3. Written quote

Clear scope, fixed price and a timeline. A short document you only need to read once.

  4. Work and handover

We protect, carry out the work and clean up. At the end we walk through it with you before the final instalment.

Mineral paint

Lisbon's walls need to breathe

Many of Lisbon's older buildings have lime walls. A plastic paint seals the wall, the damp stays trapped and, a few winters later, you get salt bloom (salitre), stains and peeling paint. That is why we use KEIM, a German mineral paint that is far better on these walls: it lets them breathe and lasts much longer. And it is not a luxury. On a typical job the price difference is small, because the paint is only part of the cost.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas do you cover?

All of Greater Lisbon, most often Lisbon, Oeiras and Cascais. For façade work we travel across the whole metropolitan area.

How much does it cost to paint a home or a façade?

It depends mostly on the state of the walls. The quickest way to find out is to send us two or three photos on WhatsApp: we reply with an estimate. If it makes sense, we book a visit and send a written quote.

What if extra work turns up along the way?

No additional work is carried out or invoiced without your written approval. On façade jobs, the most common surprises are priced in the proposal from the start.

Do I have to move out while you paint?

No. We work room by room, protect floors and furniture, and leave the home usable at the end of each day. The wall paints we use are water based and low in odour.

Which paints do you use?

Whatever the surface calls for. KEIM mineral silicate paints on lime renders and old walls, CIN systems on plaster, wood and metal, Secil mortars and Sika sealants for repairs. If you would rather buy the paint yourself, we give you the exact specification with no margin on our side.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Visits, quotes and updates can all be in English. Many of our clients are people who moved to Lisbon and want to understand exactly what is being done to their home.

Can painting be charged at 6% VAT?

On many jobs in residential property, yes. Improvement and conservation works on homes can qualify for the reduced rate, under conditions. We check case by case and state it in the quote.

Are you insured, and is the work guaranteed?

Yes. We carry public liability insurance, available on request, and workmanship comes with a written guarantee under the conditions stated in the quote.
