White-fronted building, Lisbon

A residential building of several storeys, with dormers, stone window surrounds and iron balconies. The façade had been darkened by years of dirt and run-off, and the stonework could barely be told apart from the render.

  • Façade painted over its full height, up to the dormers
  • Stone surrounds cleaned, standing out from the wall again
  • Balconies and iron railings with an even look

Blue-fronted building, Lisbon

A building with shops at street level, a blue façade with pale pilasters and stone surrounds, and long iron balconies. The blue had faded and stained to almost grey, and the design of the façade had disappeared.

  • Blue restored across the whole façade
  • Pilasters and stonework in a pale tone, marking out the design of the building again
  • Long balconies with a clean, even look

One-bedroom apartment in Madragoa, Lisbon

A ground-floor one-bedroom apartment about to go on the market. The bedroom had plaster damaged by damp and paint coming away; the rest of the home needed fresh walls and ceilings. We did the work in two stages and the apartment was photographed for the listing straight afterwards.

Location
Madragoa, Lisbon
Home
Ground-floor one-bedroom, 55 m²
Stage 1
Bedroom: loose paint and plaster removed, repairs, anti-mould wash and a KEIM mineral system (Innoprim and Innostar)
Stage 2
Rest of the apartment: walls and ceilings in white, bathroom, skirting boards fixed and joints sealed
Duration
About ten working days over the two stages

We told the client, in writing, what the paint would and would not solve: it greatly improves presentation and lets the wall breathe, but it is not a substitute for deep damp-proofing work.

Walls with rising damp, Lisbon

At the base of the walls, paint and plaster had blistered and were coming away because of moisture rising from the ground. We took off everything that had lost its grip, back to sound render, and rebuilt the wall before painting.

Location
Lisbon
Work
Loose paint, filler and plaster removed; repair with mortar and glass-fibre mesh; anti-mould treatment; stain-blocking primer and two coats
Materials
CIN Aqua Primer, CIN Vinylmatt and CIN Artibiose biocide

The quote stated what this job does not include: a permanent cure for the rising damp. The client knew before deciding.

Exterior

Walls and outdoor surfaces

We also take on small jobs. If you want to freshen up a garden wall, a patio or an outside wall, we wash it, treat the mould and paint it. It does not have to be a whole building.
